The Climate APPG Letter to the Prime Minister about COP28

I along with other members of the Climate Change All-Party Parliamentary Group, signed an open letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, urging him to take action on climate change during COP28. We highlighted the importance of appointing a UK climate envoy, phasing out fossil fuels and increasing renewables, supporting climate-vulnerable countries, standing up for nature, and championing a just energy transition.

You can find the open letter below with all the signatories:

5th Bandung Africa Annual Conference 2023

I was honored to address the Bandung African Annual conference ahead of my participation in COP28, where I represented the UK parliament. Climate justice, the Mau Mau legacy, and the obligation to rectify historical injustices are issues close to both my heart and the constituents I serve in Leicester East, many of whom trace their roots to East Africa.

Furthermore, I’m pleased to note that the Bandung conference extended solidarity to the people of Palestine, advocating for an urgent ceasefire.

This event was truly remarkable and significant. A huge thank you goes out to all the organisers and individuals who played a part in making it happen.
