SPS Strike.
It was an honour to join the picket line this morning in solidarity against the appalling employment practices of SPS Technologies in Leicester.
It is beyond shameful that SPS is now exploiting this terrible pandemic, which has hit Leicester harder than most places, as an opportunity to attack workers’ terms and conditions.
As the MP for Leicester East, I will always stand in full solidarity with all Leicester East workers. In parliament, and in our community, I will keep doing everything in my power to bring justice to SPS employees and all Leicester workers.
My letter to To Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
The teaching of Black History should be compulsory in our schools.
This week, the Conservatives voted against protecting leaseholders – they broke their promise again.
Four years on from Grenfell, leaseholders in my constituency should not have to fund dangerous cladding and other fire safety defects.
I voted to protect leaseholders, they are not to blame.

Leicester City are on their way to Wembley for the FA Cup Semi-Final!
Imagine I was just still a teenager in Leicester idolising Gary Lineker when Leicester was last at an FA Semi-Final.
Go Foxes!
I am proud to endorse Ian Byrne MP’s campaign that every child should have the right to learn without being hungry. Learning on an empty stomach is hurting children’s life chances.
You can read the story here and read more from Ian Byrne MP here including a link to our submission to the National Food Strategy.

I submitted a written question to the State for Justice Department raising the question of whether he will make an assessment of the effectiveness of the unconscious bias training made available to the judiciary.
I await a response from the relevant Government Minister.
Stay tuned to my blogs and I will update everyone when a response is received.
Exploitation in Leicester’s garment industry. Billionaires exist when and where employees are exploited. We cannot allow textile companies to keep getting away with this predatory business model, in which corporate profits are prioritised above human rights and wellbeing.
The government must finally act to end the scourge of exploitation in Leicester, across the UK and around the world. No longer should firms like boohoo hide behind the claim that companies in its supply chain are ‘third party’ businesses that they have no responsibility for.See my article for Politics Home here.
This is what an NHS GP-led service looks like. A really great achievement by the entire community. Leicester leading the way.
I fully support the joint letter organised by Jamie Stone MP that expresses concern over the deportation case of Osime Brown.
